On the last day of my trip to San Francisco, Paul and I stopped at a reasonably large Vietnamese bakery for lunch. Just south (I think…) of the Golden Gate park, that area was probably the most cogent example on the need for strong public transit in a major city. We spent around 20 – 30 minutes circling the surroundings for a parking spot, our search area growing with each successive circle. The parking space we finally located was a 7 – 10 minute walk away from the business area, in the mass of low colorful residential that’s typifies San Francisco.

I ended up with a baguette sandwich, Paul with another version of the same. I wish I’d tried something very different. Something completely out of the ordinary.
