I walked down University Ave. towards Second Cup and noticed that Johnny Fiascos! was being replaced by Voodoo Lounge. Just around the corner work Loose Change Louie’s was being reborn as Fubar.
I’ve never been to Loose Change, but if its exterior was indicative of its atmosphere, then Loose Change was well past its prime. I had the misfortune of going to Johnny’s once for ~ 3 mins. I’m glad I only stayed that long. The atmosphere was typical sports bar – dingy, dark furniture, greasy food fumes, loud…
Wait – did I say loud?
I lied. Johnny’s was pretty damn empty. Like Loose Change, whatever appeal Johnny’s had in the past, it had evaporated over time.
On a more personal note, I’m not a fan of the entire sports bar / bar scene in general. It’s too loud, I rarely drink and I don’t feel like I’m ‘having fun’. Am I getting old and stuck in my ways? ;-) Or simply have better uses for my time?
