Every year the Church Wellesley BIA hosts a Halloween party. They block off a street, crowds form, and strangeness ensues. This year I showed up.
I had gone with a group from TPMG, but split from them almost immediately; working alone allows me to blend in better; it allows me to be calmer.
The photos in this set attempt at the feel of that party, that sense of surreality, of a world that’s just a bit crazy. I photographed differently – no flash, slower shutter speeds, motion blur . . .; doesn’t seeing things as you wouldn’t normally suit the spirit of the night?
The Photos
You can see a larger version of the slideshow here (you can also press the “full screen” button on the rightmost side of the embedded slideshow’s control panel). I prefer the larger slideshow because it uses a black background, which is how I intended the photos to be seen.
The Photo Pages
The complete photo set can be found at this address. I’ve also linked the individual photo pages below, where you can see larger versions of these pictures (recommended).

Coda
If you’re interested in portraits of the costumed revelers, a good place to start is the TPMG group pool.
